State Resources Council Meeting
May 11, 2000
Nebraska Natural Resources Commission

Data Bank Technical Advisory Committee

The NRC is having a meeting of the Data Bank Technical Advisory Committee on Monday, June 5th at 9:30 a.m. in the NRC Conference Room on the 4th Floor of the State Office Building. The meeting is open to public. The action items are the development of statewide revised Digital Orthophotos and the national Hydrographic database, based on pilot project studies in collaboration with Nebraska partner agencies.

Special Achievement in GIS - ESRI AWARD

NRC received another recognition. This time, it is from the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), Redlands, California, the maker of ARC/INFO GIS Systems. The NRC has been selected to receive a "Special Achievement in GIS" award at the ESRI's 20th Annual User Conference to be held in San Diego on June 29, 2000.

This award is being given to user sites around the world in recognition of their outstanding work in the GIS field. The NRC is selected to receive this prize from over 60,000 sites worldwide. It is quite an honor.

As we all know, organizational awards like this are made possible because each individual staff member at some level had the foresight to recognize that the whole is greater than the sum of parts, and contributes to the vision of the agency.

Mid-America GIS Consortium Award

At the last meeting, the NRC reported to receiving a MidAmerica GIS Consortium (MAGIC) Biennial award. This award will be presented to NRC on Thursday, May 18th, during the 2000 MidAmerica GIS Symposium at Osage Beach, Missouri, in recognition of agency's efforts in completing a statewide coverage of Digital Orthophoto Quadrangles (DOQ) for Nebraska.
