How Has Broadband Availability in Nebraska and the U.S. Improved between 2014-2016?

By Anne Byers, Nebraska Information Technology Commission
Broadband availability in Nebraska is improving, with fixed broadband service of 25 Mbps down and 3 Mbps up available to 89% of Nebraskans in 2016, up from 84% in 2014. Although the percent of rural Nebraskans with broadband available improved from 49% in 2014 to 66% in 2016, there is still a significant rural-urban gap in broadband availability. Nebraska lags the U.S. in broadband availability with 92% of all Americans and 69% of rural Americans having access to broadband, although the gap narrowed between 2014 and 2016.
