New Team Member at OCIO

Jeff Timm

Jeff is the Applications Developer Engineer / GIS Analyst for OCIO GIS Shared Services. His responsibility is to support the State GIS Coordinator to organize and maintain geospatial data and web mapping projects that support the State Geographic Information Systems (GIS) enterprise system, Nebraska Spatial Data Infrastructure (NESDI), and NebraskaMAP. He also provides technical support to participating agencies in geodatabase design, map production and interactive web mapping applications.

Jeff comes with a background in GIS, CADD and facilities management. The majority of his career was spent with the Lincoln Public Schools managing GIS projects in the facilities department. He built an enterprise GIS dataset tied to facilities management software to support everyday LPS business functions. He was able to take paper maps and expand them into GIS. He also worked with the Right of Way unit at the Nebraska Department of Roads supporting roadway projects by working with parcel data. There he designed right of ways using COGO techniques and documenting them by writing legal descriptions.

He is originally from Beatrice but has been in the Lincoln area for over twenty years. He received an Associate Degree in Computer Aided Design Drafting at Southeast Community College. He also has course work hours towards a Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems Management through Doane College.
