72% of American households subscribe to broadband, but urban vs. rural differences persist

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration has released NTIA: Household Broadband Adoption Climbs to 72.4%new statistics showing that 72% of American households have high-speed Internet at home as of October 2012--up from 69% in July 2011

A more detailed Exploring the Digital Nation PDFreport based on 2011 data shows that Nebraska is in line with the national averages for household computer ownership (77% of households in Nebraska vs. 76% of households in the U.S.) and home broadband subscription (69% in Nebraska and the U.S.). The report also shows a significant urban vs. rural difference in Nebraska (76% of urban households in Nebraska with broadband vs. 59% of rural households). Only 12 states have higher urban adoption rates in Nebraska.
